John Henry: Great Bend Tunnel

While driving through Talcott, WV you will see a statue on the side of the road with a couple of signs explaining the story of John Henry. The signs and the statue are nice, but if you drive down the road a bit and follow a gravel road following the railroad tracks you will find this treasure. It is said to be the tunnel that John Henry was working on while he died. It now has no tracks, and maybe one foot of standing water inside. You can barely see light at the end of the tunnel and the air is cool like that of a cave.
